This is Ta Phrom, one of the temples in the Angkor complex in Cambodia. Unlike the other temples, this one has been deliberately left unrestored, in the state you see here. I’ve been here, and it is such a magical, mysterious place. I personally am glad to see it left like this, because it is such a visceral experience to wander through the roots of the strangler figs, among these moist, mossy corridors that time forgot, and to wonder what it must have been like when Angkor was among the heights of civilization in that part of the world.
